Investing in your birth and postpartum care can set you and your family up for the first year of parenthood, and beyond. Many of our families are receiving support from their friends and family to book Brood services – adding them to their Baby Registries. And we’ve made it easier than ever for your community to give you the gift of Brood. Some call it doula care funds, or crowdfunding, and here, we call it community gifting.
We’ve partnered with the amazing Patchwork, a platform created by two inspiring sisters who are driven by gifting experiences and support, rather than stuff. Parents themselves, they both had doulas as a part of their care team and are passionate about families having access to this transformative support.
COMMUNITY GIFTING
How it works:
1. Patchwork is our Community Gifting Partner. Create your account and use their Brood Doula Fund readymade template.
2. Once you’ve updated your Patchwork gift page, you’ll be able to link it to your online baby registry or share directly with friends and family. You can raise unlimited funds, as well as in-person contributions from your community. The funds go directly to you.
3. Share with your friends and family! You can link it to your online baby registry, talk about it at your baby shower, or share directly with friends and family. A message could look something like this: “I’m asking our friends and family to support us in booking Brood care for our birth and first months postpartum. A doula will help us with everything from birth planning, support during labour as well as care for me and new baby when we are settling in at home. I’m most excited about night shifts so I can look forward to catching up on sleep. Thank you!”
4. When you sign up for Brood care services, let us know you used Patchwork and we will refund your Patchwork fee.
We know it can be hard or awkward to ask, especially when friends or family members are just learning about the importance of doula care and why you are including it in your care plan. Both of our co-founders Gillian and Lizzy were community gifted Emma’s doula care when they welcomed their babies a few years ago. These gifts were life changing.
