About

What languages do you speak?

What is your personal definition of “doula”?

I believe that it’s my role to be there one step ahead of you and reassure you that you’ve got this! As a doula, I am there to support you without judgment. I am there for you any way you need me to be and to ensure you with clear communication with your healthcare professionals. I am here to help create a positive birth experience so that you are ready to connect with your baby once they have arrived.

What brought you to birth and postpartum work?

After being diagnosed with aggressive ulcerative colitis, it gave me some perspective on going through a time with your body where you may feel disconnected. It softened my heart to how people must feel when their bodies change during pregnancy and how to love yourself during the changes. As a birth and postpartum doula, I love working with families to help them rebuild their strength holistically while reconnecting their minds, body, and soul. I’m here to help you know the next step with your baby, to learn the little signs, and to find out what works for you and your baby.

In a climate of caregiver burnout, how are you caring for yourself?

I’m passionate about cooking, and music. Specifically, Lasagna and R&B! Being able to create anything from new recipes to pottery with a good playlist resets my batteries.

What is a standout book, movie/tv, etc about the childbearing/parenting journey that you return to?
BOOK
  • Why Did No One Tell Me This by Natalia Hailes and Ash Spivak is amazing! It’s funny, real, and educational and I’ve recommended it to every parent I have been lucky enough to support. I always end up seeing it full of sticky notes on their coffee table!

Testimonials

I had a very long labor, just a few days before going into labor we found Amelia and were pleased to hear she was available! This was our first baby and it was great to have the support. Amelia kept us feeling calm and in the loop when I found out I had to get an unplanned c-section. We would recommend her time and time again. — Jess

I heard about Amelia through some friends we knew from church, what a blessing it was to have her help! Waking up to a clean home after a much-needed 3-hour nap, brought me to tears. I started out nursing but I was having trouble with my baby latching. Amelia made me feel so comfortable with the decision of deciding to bottle feed after feeling a little let down that my baby would not latch. — Veronica
