Brood Letter 19 | Brood’s Birthday!

by Brood

It’s no coincidence that we decided to launch Brood during International Doula Month in 2022. We often tell the birth story of Brood, as a joyful and challenging life moment colliding—Gill and Lizzy had babies in the early pandemic and experienced the life saving care of Emma, their doula. We were so impacted by this incredible experience that the three of us made it our mission to get the power of doula care to as many families as possible.

As we head into our third year we are celebrating clients coming back for their 2nd (and 3rd!) babies. Supporting growing families, people becoming parents and taking care of babies, it’s such a privilege. And right now when there is so much happening in the world and our communities—and so much uncertainty—we are constantly inspired by the importance and presence of doula care.

We are so proud of the work that our doulas do every day (and night) – from settling newborn babies through the night, teaching nervous parents how to bottle feed, sharing tips on healing from birth, listening to questions from excited dads – the list goes on and on. The impact of this care work helps families step into parenthood with confidence, connection and a little more ease,

If you’re reading this as a caregiver or careworker (or both!) then you’re a part of our story and a part of this work. Thank you for allowing us to continue to show up for you and for each other. Cheers to another year of doula support for all!
