Our Story
We believe doula care is family care
We came together during a pandemic, connected by our passion for babies, friendship, families and changing our world through deep and meaningful work. At Brood we believe care is a radical and powerful act, one that supports families and builds communities.

Our Vision
Brood is a modern care agency and community of birth workers, doulas, and parents, redefining the meaning of family care. Brood supports families’ transformations through peak life experiences. We do this by providing inclusive, accessible education and in-home doula services that support unique reproductive and life experiences. Our approach is the intersection of doula practice, lived expertise, evidence based knowledge and joy. We build capacity for care workers leading to long, fulfilling careers and provide more support for families.

The Future of
Family Care
Why Emma and Brood are bringing doula work to your community
Can you imagine a world where we all feel supported and cared for? I can. In fact, this vision has become both my mission and the foundation from which Brood was born.
I am a passionate caregiver and educator, committed to building both the tools and structures that can deliver on this promise. Being a doula has taught me how important it is to care for people in their homes – especially new parents, pregnant people, and those moving through loss or health challenges. And, I’ve witnessed how supporting people to establish their communities of care keeps us physically and emotionally well.
My queer community, alternative family structure, and my personal circle have taught me the deep value of new family structures, not just nuclear family structures.
On behalf of our team and Brood, welcome. We are here, arms and hearts open, with the offer of a new way in which we can all thrive.

We work and live on the unceded and occupied territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. Since time immemorial, the original peoples of these lands have cared for their families and communities. We are committed to honouring their teachings, legacy and their sovereignty.
