What is your personal definition of “doula”?

To me, a doula is someone who supports birthing families through every stage of the perinatal journey. They know when to step in and provide comfort, counsel, or practical help, ensuring that families feel supported and cared for during this transformative time. A doula is there, attuned to the family’s needs. As a doula, my role is to foster a sense of safety, empowerment, and connection. I am dedicated to ensuring that each family feels nurtured and informed, embracing a holistic approach that honours their unique experiences.

What brought you to birth and postpartum work?

What brought me to this work was witnessing the many families who go through pregnancy and postpartum without the support they truly need. These seasons can often feel overwhelming, and no one should ever have to face them alone. I am passionate about providing support during this uncertain in-between phase, filling in the gaps and uplifting families so they feel empowered and ready to embrace parenthood.

In a climate of caregiver burnout, how are you caring for yourself?

Self-care, to me, looks like going for a dance, eating good food or spending time with my partner and friends. I also feel nourished by expressing my artistic outlets like painting, interior design, candle making and various crafting. Connecting to earth is important to me as well, whether it be going out in nature, moon cycle rituals, energy cleansing or meditating, having these in my regular practice helps wthe ith feeling of burnout and makes my cup feel full.

Tell us more about the ethos in your birth doula practice:

I embrace full-spectrum perinatal care that values practical guidance, emotional support, and genuine connection. I believe that parenthood is a journey to grow into, not merely a phase to get through. I strive to create a nurturing space that allows families to rest, recover, and build confidence throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

I recognize you are the best parent for your child and I meet each family with calm adaptability and respect for their unique pace. My goal is to empower parents to feel confident and positive during this important time in their lives. Whether you seek hands-on guidance, emotional reassurance, or a moment of rest, I am committed to facilitating healing in body, mind, and spirit as you transition into parenthood. Care should lighten your load, not add to it. It should leave you feeling capable, informed, and cared for. Together, we can create the best environment for a gentle and fulfilling birth experience.

Do you have a preferred location where you typically support births?

I am comfortable in home births and hospital births as well as water births and birthing centers. I follow your lead and support whichever choice you make!
