What is your personal definition of “doula”?

A doula is an advocate, a trusted companion, and a mother to mothers—offering guidance, reassurance, and a safe space through every stage of the parenting journey.

What brought you to birth and postpartum work?

I believe that when people feel confident, supported, and fully connected to themselves, they bring something powerful to the world. My goal is to help create an environment where birthing people can access their most authentic, instinctive selves—free from fear and empowered to trust their own strength. I believe everyone deserves a team of unwavering support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, and I am passionate about being part of that support system.

In a climate of caregiver burnout, how are you caring for yourself?

I give myself credit where credit is due. I touch grass. I spend time with my friends and am really honest with them, knowing they have my back. I wholeheartedly enjoy my weird little hobbies.

Tell us more about the ethos in your birth doula practice:

I have five core pillars in which I base my practice on — there is no right way to give birth, only the right support for each family.

1) Education & Understanding
I believe knowledge reduces fear and increases confidence. Understanding birth helps families approach birth with confidence.

2) Informed Choice & Autonomy
I don’t have a personal agenda, I want you to have the experience YOU want. The right choice is the informed choice.

3) Physiological Birth & Body Wisdom
I believe that the body is the expert at giving birth and creating conditions that support these natural processes is key whenever possible. When we understand and support physiology, birth is less intimidating and more intuitive.

4) Whole Family Support
Birth is never a solitary experience. I prepare and empower birth partners and educate on the postpartum transition. Everyone deserves support.

5) Compassionate, Non-Judgmental Care
Every family is different, every body is different, every person has their own hopes and fears. I will meet you where you are at and help guide you where you want to go.

Do you have a preferred location where you typically support births?

While I am comfortable supporting births in a variety of settings, including hospitals, birth centers, and at home, I am particularly passionate about supporting physiological birth and helping families create an environment that promotes comfort, safety, and confidence regardless of location.
