What is your personal definition of “doula”?
A doula is a compassionate, non-medical professional who supports families emotionally and practically through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, ensuring they feel heard, seen, respected, and supported.
What brought you to birth and postpartum work?
I was drawn to postpartum doula work after witnessing the physical and emotional challenges families face after birth and recognizing the need for compassionate, hands-on support during this transition.
In a climate of caregiver burnout, how are you caring for yourself?
I prioritize self-care by getting enough rest and checking in with myself emotionally. I make sure to recharge so I can show up calm, focused, and fully supportive for the families I work with!
What is a standout book, movie/tv, etc about the childbearing/parenting journey that you return to?
TV
- I appreciate the documentary series Babies, which highlights the diversity of parenting experiences and early child development.

Testimonials
Brood has been an incredible support for our family. Our caregiver is calm, kind, and so loving with the twins. She has made our first month much more manageable and has taught us so much along the way. Thank you, Brood! — Taylor Bayne
We were fortunate to have Titi as one of our doulas from the time our son was born until he was 4 months old, providing overnight care. She was calm, caring and confident with a newborn. At the beginning, I was breastfeeding, and she would assist me in bringing him to me at night, burping him, changing his diaper, and putting him back down in his bassinet. I then transitioned to pumping, and she would clean the pumps, store the milk and bring the pumps back for the next session. I remember our son being fussy a few times upon her arrival, and she would scoop him up and calm him down almost instantly. She never became overwhelmed or flustered when he became fussy, knowing exactly what to do. She was always early and even accommodated us on last-minute night requests. Titi would always come in asking how we were, how our eldest daughter was and how our son was doing that day. We truly felt like she cared about our family, especially our children. She was detailed and thorough with what had happened through the night, so we knew what had occurred through the night, which I really appreciated waking up to. Titi was everything we wanted in an overnight doula and more. If we were to do this again, I wouldn’t hesitate to have Titi come help us again. — Anonymous
